HOPE PROGRAMME FOR CANCER

MACMILLIAN CANCER SUPPORT - PLYMOUTH

I had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in April 2021.

It is a stage 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. I had 2 emergency craniotomies followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. I still have a tough long road ahead.

I was introduced to the Hope Programme by my key worker Claire at Derriford hospital. I did a 6-week Programme and learnt how to balance my life with using coping strategies and asking for help. How to pace myself. Although I still find this tricky, I am learning and keep coming back to relearning the education and mindfulness techniques.

My hobbies include, watercolour and acrylic painting. I find it really absorbs my mind so I’m not worrying or thinking about my situation with the brain tumour and treatments.

My artwork is a design I made to make cards to sell in aid of brain tumour support.
