Beating the blues - hope monday 2026

On 19th January 2026, Hope For The Community CIC hosted Hope Monday, a free wellbeing webinar designed to turn Blue Monday into a day of positivity. Participants enjoyed relaxation for mind and body, winter wellbeing tips, and a creative gratitude session, all inspired by the evidence-based strategies from our Hope Programme self-management courses.

Finding calm within: A guided visual journey with Stephen Pearse

This guided visual practice offered a calm, supportive space to slow down, settle the nervous system, and quiet the mind. Stephen Pearse gently led participants through moments of relaxation and inner stillness, creating a sense of peace and tranquility that can be revisited at any time.


Yoga reset – an introduction to gentle movement with Rachel Meller

Try a gentle yoga session that focuses on releasing unnecessary muscular tension, whilst regulating the nervous system and finding more comfortable ways to move the body. A gentle practice suitable for all levels of fitness and mobility. This gentle practice is more concerned with finding ways to maintain presence and to give sensing priority over thinking. The session can be done from a chair.


Express yourself: Creativity to uplift and inspire with Mellissa Monsoon

In this inspiring session, artist Mellissa Monsoon explored creativity as a tool for confidence, self-expression, and wellbeing. Drawing on her extensive experience of workshops and artist residencies, Mellissa encouraged participants to reconnect with their creative instincts and reflected on how creative practice can be both uplifting and grounding.

Movement snacks: Micro-moves for everyday vitality with Dr Emma Meehan & Dr Eline Kieft

Dr Emma Meehan and Dr Eline Kieft introduced a series of simple, accessible movement “snacks” designed to fit into everyday life. Based on somatic practices and Qi Gong, these gentle movements supported body awareness, vitality, and ease. The session was particularly relevant for those living with chronic pain, or those supporting people who are.

Mindfulness Meditation with Dr Liz Sparkes

This nurturing mindfulness and compassion practice, led by Dr Liz Sparkes, focused on soothing the mind and body, supporting rest, reducing anxiety, and restoring balance. 

Drawing on her background as a health psychologist, coach, and Reiki Master, Liz shared a calming practice informed by her extensive work with individuals, groups, the NHS, charities, and trusts, including her ongoing work on the Hope Programme.
