Help & Care is the certified provider of the HOPE Programme in Dorset, offering friendly, practical courses that help adults build confidence, improve wellbeing, and take charge of their health.

HOPE is a free six-week self-management course designed for people aged 18 or over who are registered with a GP in Dorset and ready to explore new ways of looking after their health. It’s ideal for anyone living with long-term conditions or facing the pressures of caring.

Led by trained facilitators, each session blends proven techniques with supportive peer discussion, helping participants discover what matters to them and build tools that last well beyond the course.

How HOPE can help

Course themes:

  • Managing stress, fatigue and sleep – simple strategies to restore energy

  • Mindfulness & dealing with setbacks – practical ways to stay present and resilient

  • Communication & relationships – skills to strengthen connections and ask for help

  • Getting active, creative and eating well – small changes that boost body and mood

  • Using your strengths – recognising what’s already within you to support future goals

What to expect:

By week six, many participants tell us they:

  • Feel less isolated through shared experience and peer support

  • Feel more confident handling anxiety, low mood or uncertainty

  • Use relaxation techniques to reset mind and body

  • Approach goals with clear, achievable plans

  • Continue to self‑manage health and wellbeing at home and in the community

All sessions are free of charge and delivered in welcoming community venues across Dorset.
